Lopez refuses to resign from his position While elected San Jacinto city Councilmember Joel Lopez, who refuses to resign his post, sits in jail awaiting trial on felony domestic violence charges, San Jacinto City Council took action to censure him during its Aug. 17 meeting. Lopez, 35, was arrested on felony domestic violence charges Aug. 5, a little more than a month after he was arrested and indicted in June on felony counts of conspiracy and maintaining an unlawful marijuana facility, as well as misdemeanor counts of selling cannabis without a permit and failure to file a sales and use tax return with the state. He was elected to his council post in November, and according to San Jacinto Mayor Alonso Ledezma, had shown poor attendance at regular council meetings. His fellow
