MURRIETA (CNS) – Three people were killed and one person was severely injured in a single-vehicle crash at Alta Murrieta Elementary School, police said today.
The crash was reported around 11:10 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the school at 39475 Whitewood Road, according to the Murrieta Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found the car (reportedly a Tesla Model 3 Performance vehicle) fully engulfed in flames. One man was found severely injured outside of the car, and he was rushed to a hospital.
Officers and Murrieta Fire and Rescue personnel found three people, including the driver, inside the car after the fire was extinguished. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the four people and the cause of the crash were not immediately known, but updated online reports as of Sunday, July 9, have indicated that at least three of the four were young adults, possibly students from a local high school.
