Baxter Fire Burns 60 Acres in Murrieta, 30% Contained

MURRIETA, Calif. — A wildfire dubbed the Baxter Fire has scorched approximately 60 acres in the area of Avenida Manana and Running Rabbit Road in Murrieta, according to CAL FIRE Riverside Unit. The blaze, which began Thursday, is currently 30% contained.

Firefighters from across the state have been deployed, with 168 personnel actively engaged in battling the flames. Resources on scene include 20 engines, two water tenders, two dozers, five hand crews, and 23 additional support units. Numerous air tankers have also been utilized as conditions permit.

Crews have successfully halted the forward progress of the fire, and mop-up operations will continue throughout the evening. Firefighters will remain on-site overnight to monitor for any hot spots within the containment area.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Further updates will be provided only if significant activity occurs.
