TEMESCAL VALLEY (CNS) - A motorist was fatally injured today when she plowed into a tree amid a downpour south of Corona. The accident happened about 3 p.m. on Knabe Road, near White Sage Road, in the Temescal Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol. The agency said the woman, whose identity was not immediately released, may have been speeding in her Toyota SUV prior to the crash on the drenched blacktop. Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived within a few minutes and found the victim lying next to the heavily damaged vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP shut down part of the four-lane road to conduct a preliminary investigation and remove the wreckage. Bands of rain had been moving through the area since morning.
